For optimum performance of your zazen Alkaline Water system, we recommend you change the filters/stones as follows:

The zazen Filter Cartridge is responsible for reducing fluoride by up to 90%, plus many contaminants, toxins and heavy metals such as lead, arsenic and cadmium; chlorine and chloroforms; MTBE's; THMs; odours etc., which are found in many of our water supplies. They have been linked to cancer and other illnesses and diseases.

What does the zazen Ceramic Filter do?

The zazen Ceramic Filter is constructed of highly compressed and fired Diatomite earth with a pore size of 0.2 to 0.5 micron. It removes rust, sediments, organic matter, bacteria, cysts, parasites and other hazardous micro-organisms.

What do the zazen Silver Stones do?

Silver is a natural anti-bacterial agent which by design keeps the lower tank clean and maintenance free. The zazen Silver Stones naturally preserve the freshness of the water in the zazen tank through this anti-bacterial effect - ensuring the best quality water is ready to drink all day, every day. (Please note: Silver is not released into the water.) 

Why do I need to replace them regularly?

To ensure the very best quality water for your health and wellness benefit, it is important to change your filters and stones on time. With the filter cartridge, we recommend a maximum time in use of 6 months, and 12 months for the Ceramic Filter and Silver Stones. If you have a large family, or busy office/clinic, you may need to change your filter cartridge sooner.

After filtering hundreds of litres of tap or tank water, your zazen Filter Cartridge gets "clogged" with the heavy metals and other contaminants it has removed by trapping them in its filter layers. This means its ability to filter your water is reduced over time. The need to change the filter is not just based on usage, but also the period of time it has been in use in your system, sitting in a moist environment.

The Ceramic Filter also loses its fine filtration capabilities as it deteriorates over time, and the Silver Stones lose their effectiveness such that bacteria can start to reappear in the water sitting in the bottom tank, greatly impacting the quality of your drinking water.
